Japanese Society of Medical Oncology (JSMO)
The mission of the Japanese Society of Medical Oncology (JSMO) is to promote cancer care and public welfare through improvements in treatment outcomes for cancer. To achieve these goals, JSMO holds annual meetings and educational programs, supports cancer research, provides reliable information on cancers and their therapies, develops guidelines in cancer treatments, and collaborates with other domestic and international medical associations as well as regulatory agencies.
To promote cancer research, education and practice in medical oncology in more efficient and rational ways, we need to break thorough the barriers between basic and clinical research and scientific research and medical practice, as well as barriers in the fields of organ-specific cancer research and care. JSMO provides platforms for integrations and interaction beyond these barriers. JSMO also educates and fosters young oncologists-in-training and certifies them as specialists in anticancer drug therapy. These activities will improve outcomes of anticancer drug therapies.
