ISSBD is a truly international organisation whose mission is to promote scientific research of human development throughout the lifespan. It has members in over 60 countries around the world. It celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2019 and we look forward to marking this key milestone with special publications, video recordings and events recognizing our history over the course of 2019 and beyond.

The International Society for the Study of Behavioural Development (ISSBD) was formed on the 19th July 1972 and seeks to promote scientific research of human development throughout the life span.

The International Society for the Study of Behavioural Development (ISSBD):
• ISSBD was formed on the 31st of May, 1969
• The society seeks to promote scientific research of human development throughout the life span
• ISSBD is a truly international organization with more than 1,100 members from 60 countries, the society welcomes researchers from any scientific disciplines interested in human development
• The Society is a membership organization open to individuals who have completed their academic training, and are involved in research focusing on human development
• ISSBD has three publications: International Journal of Behavioral Development (six issues per year) ISSBD Bulletin (two issues per year) and the e-newsletter (monthly).
• The Society organizes conferences every second year. The next conference will be held in Shanghai, China, 2014.
• 1-2 workshops are also held yearly on a variety of topics, hosted across the world.
• Developmental scientists recognize the ISSBD as the major international organization serving their specialty fields.
• The ISSBD is an effective medium for scientific exchange in a truly international context.
