The International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society (MDS) is a professional society of more than 11,000 clinicians, scientists and other healthcare professionals dedicated to improving the care of patients with movement disorders through education and research.

The purpose and objective of the Society shall be to advance the neurological sciences pertaining to Movement Disorders; to improve the diagnosis and treatment of patients; to operate exclusively for scientific, scholarly and educational purposes; to encourage research; to provide forums, such as medical journals, scientific symposia and International Congress, for sharing ideas and for advancing the related clinical and scientific disciplines; to encourage interest and participation in the activities of the Society among healthcare and allied professionals and scientists; and to collaborate with other related professional and lay organization.

Mission:
The International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society is a professional society of clinicians, scientists, and other healthcare professionals who are interested in Parkinson's disease, related neurodegenerative and neurodevelopmental disorders, hyperkinetic Movement Disorders and abnormalities in muscle tone and motor control.
