the Institute of Medical Genetics and Developmental Biology, Zhejiang University, is an independently operated natural science research institution within Zhejiang University and a secondary entity research institution. The administrative management of the institute is based on the School of Medicine and is supervised by the Institute of Science and Technology. The current dean is Academician Huang Hefeng, and the vice deans are Professor Zhang Dan and Professor Zhang Jinglan. A chief scientist position has been established to guide scientific research. The institute is based on the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital Affiliated to Zhejiang University and integrates multiple disciplines. It focuses on three major research directions: reproductive genetics research, developmental disease research, and birth defect prevention and control research. In these areas, the institute is committed to exploring the genetic effects of medical-induced reproductive interventions, early diagnosis and intervention of congenital diseases, the relationship between maternal nutrition and embryonic diseases, the impact of environmental factors on embryonic development, and the construction of a precise prevention and control system for birth defects.
