The Idaho Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ISHP), is a non-profit corporation, founded as a state-affiliate chapter of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP)* in 1956. ISHP primarily supports and represents the interests of those pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who practice in hospitals, nursing homes, institutions, medical clinics and other such"health systems."About one-third of all practicing pharmacists work in these health-systems.

Mission:
The mission of ISHP is to promote the highest levels of pharmacy practice by our members. ISHP promotes the highest levels of pharmacy practice through its affiliation with ASHP and adopts the following five goals developed by ASHP:
• Improve the quality of medication use in hospitals and health systems.
• Foster optimal models for the deployment of pharmacy resources in hospitals and health systems.
• Ensure that the pharmacy work force in hospitals and health systems has the capacity to meet current and future patient-care needs.
• Cultivate the leadership skills of health-system pharmacists.
• Foster the creation and implementation of health information technologies that produce continuous improvement in medication use in hospitals and health systems.
