The Hellenic Neurological Society was first established in 1936 and until 1987 it was considered, together with the Psychiatric Society, as one society. The autonomus Hellenic Neurological Society (H.N.S.) was establised in 1987.

The H.N.S. is a non-profit organization settled in the city of Athens (10 Alkmanos Street, Postal Code 115 28, Greece). The main object of the H.N.S. is to promote Neurology in Greece and in particular the scientific fields concerning the research of neurological disorders' causes, the prevention and therapy of the Nervos System disorders, as well as the social rehabilitation of the neurological patients. The H.N.S. is also aiming to encourage the Education and Research activity of Neurologists.

The society consists of ordinary, horonary, corresponding international members as well as trainees neurologists and doctors of other specialities or university graduates, with a proven interest in Neurological Sciences. The society is ruled by a seven member Management Committee with a two year term of office.
