The German Stroke Society (DSG) was founded in December 2001 and emerged from the German Society for Neurology. The aim of the society is to coordinate, qualify and promote research and further education in the field of stroke. Political influence is also desired in order to give the disease "stroke" an appropriate meaning.
With its activities, the DSG addresses all doctors and service providers in the healthcare sector who are involved in the care of stroke patients.
With its first projects, the DSG promotes the implementation of medical-scientific findings on the prevention and treatment of strokes in clinics and practices. It therefore particularly supports the work on the stroke units and their further dissemination.
