The German Society of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, Head and Neck Surgery is dedicated to the advancement of scientific and clinical knowledge relating to the fields of head and neck surgery and otorhinolaryngology.

Mission:
The German Society of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, Head and Neck Surgery is dedicated to the advancement of scientific and clinical knowledge relating to the fields of head and neck surgery and otorhinolaryngology. This purpose is realized via strategic endeavours with the Society’s many constituents. The Society focuses on maintaining the integrity and cohesiveness of the diverse otorhinolaryngological medical field and on strengthening and facilitating relationships with other medical specialty organizations and international societies. Emphasis is also placed on continuing and advanced education for members, as well as providing support and advice for other scientific societies, health departments, and institutions with a need for information or expertise on head and neck surgery and otorhinolaryngology. The Society was founded when the German Association of Otorhinolaryngologists and the German Otological Society merged in 1921. The name in use today – German Society of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, Head and Neck Surgery – was adopted in 1968. Currently, the society has over 5,000 members.
