Galapagos NV discovers and develops small molecule medicines with novel modes of action, several of which show promising patient results and are currently in clinical development in multiple diseases. Our pipeline comprises discovery through to Phase 3 programs in inflammation, fibrosis, and other indications.

Mission is to develop first-in-class medicines based on the discovery of novel targets. Using human primary cells and patient cells, the company discovers which proteins (‘targets’) play a key role in causing diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease and fibrosis. Galapagos then aims to develop small molecules that inhibit these targets, restore the balance and thereby positively influence the course of the disease. This approach addresses the disease rather than just treating the symptoms.
