French Society of Neurosurgery / Societe Francaise de Neurochirurgie (SFNC)
Marseille, Provence-Alpes-Cote d Azur, France
Founded in December 1969 by Jean Pecker, the French Society of Neurosurgery now has approximately 250 members (all senior neurosurgeons represent 587 people). Despite our small number, the history and development of our specialty requires us to be structured by sub-specialty sector in order to identify practitioners in our teams with specific expertise in topics such as functional, vascular, neuro-oncology, etc.
Thus, the SFNC is structured into components, whether sections, clubs, or associations, which lead scientific reflection according to their center of interest. The Board of Directors and Scientific Committee (CSA) is composed of 8 elected members, and the Presidents and heads of the various components of the specialty.
The goals of this company are:
• To harmonize research in Neurosurgery at the national level and to favor its international promotion,
• To bring together French Neurosurgeons in periodic meetings in order to promote exchanges and the development of the specialty,
• To participate in an interface with the College of Neurosurgery in the promotion - of the teaching of Neurosurgery at the national level,
• To study the problems of organization of the profession by becoming the interlocutor of the supervisory authorities that are the HAS, the DGOS, the Ministry of Health.
