French Society of Colposcopy and Cervico-Vaginal Pathology / Societe Francaise de Colposcopie et de Pathologie Cervico-Vaginale (SFCPCV)

The French Society of Colposcopy and Cervico-Vaginal Pathology ( SFCPCV ) was founded in France in 1977 at the instigation of Fernand COUPEZ . Its aim is to bring together gynecologists and pathologists interested in cervical pathology and colposcopy with a view to cancer prevention within a subspecialty of cervico-vaginal pathology. It has regional branches in most French regions and currently has 1,624 members.

The Society has taken on the task of participating in the teaching of this subspecialty through courses given in the various branches, and in continuing medical education through its annual days and those organized in the regions. Its experts participate in the development of programs and the teaching of initial university training in cervico-vaginal pathology.

With the multifocality of HPV-related lesions, its scope has expanded to include vaginal and vulvar pathology. Moreover, in most countries, colposcopy societies are called colposcopy and lower genital tract pathology societies. In addition to its annual conferences, the society organizes cervical pathology sessions at numerous French gynecology conferences.
