Founded in 1937 by Charles Laubry, the French Society of Cardiology (SFC) is a learned society dedicated to advancing research against cardiovascular diseases .
Chaired by Professor Bernard IUNG (Bichat – Claude-Bernard Hospital, Paris) since January 2024, it brings together more than 5,000 members and is managed by a Board of nine volunteer cardiologist members.
It alone represents all the scientific and medical components of the specialty through its communities.
The SFC also aims to improve professional practices and to mobilize public authorities on cardiovascular diseases, which are one of the leading causes of death in France with approximately 140,000 deaths per year.
