European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS)

With the dramatic worldwide progression of the pandemic of metabolic diseases including obesity and diabetes, and premature atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease on the one hand, and with the aging of the European population on the other, atherosclerosis has become a major health concern.

In this light, EAS has joined forces with other societies and groups actively involved in this field. Their common goals are to prevent the disease and to provide a framework for concerted scientific and clinical discussion of new developments in basic research, diagnosis and therapy of atherosclerosis. The EAS is Europe’s resource for expertise in these areas, as well as in inherited disorders of lipid metabolism associated with high cardiovascular risk.
