About:
Advanced Practice Nurses in El Paso have informally held company-sponsored dinner/lectures for many years. However, it has always been a plan to eventually form a professional organization. In 2007, a group of local Advanced Practice Nurses formed a Steering Committee and started to meet at least once a month to formulate the plans for an organization. The objective was to unite all the advanced practice nurses in the El Paso area in advancing the profession, as well as in promoting continuing education.
The El Paso area Advanced Practice Nurses was formally launched in January 2008. One committee member came from Las Cruces, New Mexico; specialties ranged from Nurse Practitioners to Clinical Nurse Specialists and Nurse Anesthetists. It was therefore decided that the title will include the word “area” and “Advanced Practice Nurses”.
Mission:
The Mission and Vision were formulated along with the bylaws for the organization. The original bylaws were in effect until it was revised in 2014, to reflect changes in technology and the changing times.
