It gives us immense pleasure to announce that 23rd Annual Conference of Pediatric Hematology Oncology Chapter (PHO) of Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) is to be held from 6th-8th September 2019 in the ancient and holy city of Varanasi in the Division of Hematology Oncology, Department of Pediatrics, Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University. On behalf of the Organizing Committee we extend a very warm invitation to all the delegates. Pediatric Hematology Oncology has made great strides in the last decade and has been the fastest growing subspeciality of Pediatrics. From being limited to a few centers in the metropolitan cities, it has made its presence felt in several teaching hospitals and medical colleges of the country now. With growing army of trained pediatric hemato-oncologists, new centers are coming up offering quality care to children with blood disorders. Pediatric stem cell transplantation is another success story with more and more centers coming up and improving survival of children with diseases which were thought to be incurable only a few years back. However, a lot still needs to be done. We need more young people to join the speciality and take it forward. With this motto, the theme chosen for the conference is: "Breaking barriers, Expanding Horizons" which will be highlighted through a number of lectures, symposia, debates and interactive sessions. Pre conference CMEs and workshops will be organized to update our knowledge and expertise. We propose to invite the pioneers in the field from abroad and India to deliberate on the topics and enrich us with their wisdom.
