The Croatian Cardiology Society (HKD) was founded in 1992 as the first independent professional medical association in independent Croatia. It has been a full member of the European Society of Cardiology and the World Federation of Cardiology since the beginning. HKD's main goal is to care for the health of the heart and blood vessels of the Croatian population, from prevention to enabling the conditions for the most modern cardiology diagnostics and therapy, which should be available to as many patients as possible, evenly within Croatia. HKD also takes care of the progress of the cardiology profession and science in Croatia, and represents Croatian cardiology in the world. In accordance with our overall orientation, HKD closely cooperates with the European Society of Cardiology, taking over, translating and adapting the European guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the heart and blood vessels. HKD strives and should certainly become an indispensable factor in making all important plans and decisions in the field of cardiovascular medicine in Croatia, since it gathers all relevant experts who deal with cardiology in Croatia.
