It is considered that in 1888 the Medical Society of the Specialty was founded for the first time, although it is also described that it would be in 1895, both dates coincide with the time of the Porfiriato, when the medical guild is involved in politics and power, which which was conducive for the medical corps to be strengthened; and when Mexican science had a great impulse with the creation of the first institutes and in research; facts that evidenced the organization of Mexican medicine at the time and clarified the characteristics that define the professional status of the doctor to date. However, at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, medical societies disappeared, decline and fatality was evident at the beginning of the Revolution and with the fall of Porfirio Díaz.

The College of Internal Medicine of Mexico AC (CMIM), was founded as the Association of Internal Medicine of Mexico (AMIM) AC, in 1974 and remained as such for 28 years, it was in 2002 that it was constituted as a College and remains until the date.

The College of Internal Medicine of Mexico AC is an Academic / Scientific Institution of excellence, constituted as a non-profit civil association (AC), is made up of Collegiate Internists with current Certification that give it a solid structure and give it prestige and recognition. Carries out activities aimed at promoting medical study, research and continuing medical education on Internal Medicine and related sciences; whose advances are collected, analyzed and disseminated in order to update knowledge and standardize cutting-edge medical criteria in health professionals for the correct exercise of their comprehensive medical practice, thus contributing to a better clinical outcome in their patients.
