The Chilean Society of Ophthalmology (SOCHIOF) is a non-profit association that brings together ophthalmologists at the national level, with nearly 700 members throughout Chile.Born on October 21, 1931 as a successor to the Ophthalmological Society of Chile and has its domicile in the city of Santiago, where the National Board operates.Its main mission is to promote the improvement, protection, development and organization of the medical specialty of Ophthalmology, as well as ensuring its prestige and good ethical practice.

The Chilean Society of Ophthalmology creates, sponsors and maintains publications, conferences, courses, awards for the best scientific works, scholarships for studies or research and other activities aimed at improving the preparation of associates or students of Ophthalmology. One of the most important activities is the Course of Training and Improvement of Ophthalmologists (CFPO), which he has maintained for more than 50 years, promoting the continuing education of his associates, through a three-year theoretical program, taught by his partners and coordinated by a Board of Directors that is renewed every two years.

Mission:
Its main mission is to promote the improvement, protection, development and organization of the medical specialty of Ophthalmology, as well as ensuring its prestige and good ethical practice.
