The Centre for Palliative Care (the Centre) was established in 1996 to increase the quality of palliative care being provided to the community through research and education.
The Centre is a department of St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and a Collaborative Centre of The University of Melbourne. These strategic clinical and education relationships ensure we are well positioned to undertake essential research and provide a range of quality palliative care education options to health practitioners.
They play a key role in developing and delivering training and education programs for health services and health professionals from a variety of disciplines.
Our extensive program of research activities is funded through a combination of Victorian and Australian Government agencies, other funding bodies, and generous donations from the community.
