Bristol Bay Area Health Corporation (BBAHC) provides quality health care with competence and sensitivity.
Incorporated in 1973, the Bristol Bay Area Health Corporation (BBAHC) began managing and operating Kanakanak Hospital and the Bristol Bay Service Unit for the Indian Health Service (IHS) in 1980. It was the first tribal organization in the United States to do so under P.L. 93-638, the Indian Self Determination and Education Assistance Act. In 1994, BBAHC became a founding member of the Alaska Tribal Health Compact (Title III, P.L. 93-638) which allowed BBAHC to enter into a government-to-government contract with the U.S. Congress to exercise greater control over funds allocated by Congress for Healthcare services for Alaska Natives and American Indians.
