The Brazilian Society of Pathology (SBP)was founded on August 5, 1954, during the Brazilian Seminar on Pathological Anatomy, in the Meeting Room of the Medical Association of Paraná, in Curitiba. The founding board was formed by Professors Amadeu Fialho, Luigi Bogliolo, Moacyr de Freitas Amorim, Paulo de Queiroz, Telles Tibirica and Atys Quadros da Silva, as secretary. The presidency was exercised by Prof. Amadeu Fialho, who solemnly declared the “Brazilian Society of Pathologists”, a name that lasted until 1993 when, due to a change in its bylaws, it was renamed SBP. Thirty-two pathologists signed the official founding minutes, becoming founding members of SBP: Anchises Marques de Faria, Armando Tramujas, Arthur Pereira and Oliveira, Athayde Soares de Almeida, Augusto Colle, Aureliano Ferreira, Célio Belizario Ramos.

Represent your associates and offer them technical-scientific and professional support, as a reference in the exercise of pathology, through legal advice and the provision of continuing education programs, scientific updating, quality control and accreditation of services.
