Diabetologia was becoming a solid branch of Endocrinology, demanding more attention from specialists, with goals and paths increasingly different from those covered by the specialty. Realizing this growth, the young doctor José Procópio do Valle met with other professionals in the area, at the Antonio Pedro University Hospital, at the Federal University of Fluminense (UFF), and proposed to organize a foundation dedicated to people with diabetes.

Mission:
“Always contribute to the prevention and adequate treatment of diabetes, disseminating technical-scientific knowledge among doctors and health professionals, raising awareness among the population about the disease, improving the quality of life of people with diabetes and collaborating with the State in the formulation and implementation of public policies aimed at the correct care of patients and the significant reduction in the number of individuals with diabetes in their country”.

Vision:
To be recognized nationally and internationally as a reference institution and a center of knowledge and information on diabetes, guided by principles of ethics and transparency and by medical and social conduct unrelated to any personal, financial or corporate interest.
