Association of Midwest Academic Anesthesia Chairs (AMAAC), INC

Chicago, Illinois, United States of America

The Association of Midwest Academic Anesthesia Chairs, Inc. (AMAAC) is comprised of the Chairs of 35 Anesthesia Departments in the Midwestern United States and Canada, ranging geographically from northern New York to central Kansas.

Mission:
The mission of AMAAC is to facilitate and support the Midwestern Anesthesia Residents Conference (MARC). This yearly meeting, which began at the University of Iowa in 1961, has grown into the largest anesthesia resident's conference in North America and in the world, with attendance approaching (and sometimes exceeding) 700 individuals each year. The MARC meeting is hosted by AMAAC member departments on a rotating basis, and the AMAAC member-chairs meet yearly at the MARC meeting.

The mission of the MARC meeting is to encourage and support resident research and scholarly activity in their home departments and to allow residents to share their work among their peers in a friendly, educational atmosphere.
