The Asian-Pacific Society for Digestive Endoscopy (APSDE) was established in 1966
and was legally established under Hong Kong law thereby providing all members with
legal protection under the Presidency of Prof William S.C. Chao. The constitution was
posted to members in October 2002.
The objects for establishing the APSDE are to make the Asian Pacific region excel in
education and research in all aspects of digestive endoscopy and Gastroenterology. It
is also a bridge to co-ordinate and correlate the efforts of organisations, companies,
associations and societies interested in the cause, diagnosis, prevention, treatment and
diseases with a view to reducing morbidity and mortality. APSDE also aims at
promoting, developing and assisting medical profession in the study of information
concerning the causes, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of digestive diseases.
