The formation of the Asia Cornea Society (ACS) is spurred by a common vision amongst corneal subspecialists and researchers throughout Asia to foster the exchange of knowledge and information on clinical, educational and research aspects of the corneal subspecialty with particular focus and relevance to Asian corneal diseases. The scope of corneal subspecialty that the ACS aims its focus on includes, but is not limited to corneal and external eye diseases, ocular surface disorders, corneal transplantation and other forms of corneal surgery, including keratoprosthesis surgery, corneal refractive surgery, the medical contact lens field and eye banking.

The society is dedicated to providing a forum for regional interaction so as to advance the development of these fields of ophthalmology in Asia, and to contribute to international development in this arena, with the ultimate aim of alleviation of corneal blindness.

Society's Objectives:
The Asia Cornea Society endeavours to:
• Provide a forum for exchange of knowledge and skills in the corneal subspecialty and related fields;
• Promote research in the corneal subspecialty and related fields;
• Associate with national corneal and ophthalmological societies in different countries and to collaborate with other international and regional associations with similar interests;
• Work with other local, regional and international organizations to co-organise or sponsor Cornea symposia or workshops with their scientific programmes;
• Organise an independent Asia Cornea Society Scientific Meeting at least once every two years to advance knowledge, share new discoveries and insights in the corneal subspecialty and related fields.
