The American Psychosomatic Society grew from a desire among several academicians, practitioners and foundations to link developments in psychology and psychiatry to internal medicine, physiology and other disciplines.
Mission:
The mission of the American Psychosomatic Society is to advance and integrate the scientific study of biological, psychological, behavioral and social factors in health and disease.
APS Goals:
• Scientific Excellence - Advance scientific excellence in psychosomatic medicine.
• Clinical Relevance - Increase clinical and public health relevance of biopsychosocial research.
• Vibrant and Diverse Membership - Ensure an engaged membership balanced by disciplines, career stages, national/ethnic backgrounds, clinical vs. basic researchers.
