Physiology is a broad area of scientific inquiry that focuses on the biological function of living organisms. Today, physiology could not be more important. In fact, physiology is essential to answering virtually every critical question facing us in Their understanding of life, health and disease.

As a nonprofit devoted to fostering education, scientific research, and dissemination of information in the physiological sciences, They focus on supporting Their 10,000+ members in their efforts to solve the major problems affecting life and health. Most APS members have doctoral degrees in physiology and/or medicine (or other health professions).

APS is headquartered in Rockville, Md. They are a member of the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB), a coalition of independent societies that plays an active role in lobbying for the interests of biomedical scientists.
