American Association of Surgical Physician Assistants (AASPA)

AASPA is the premier support organization for surgical PAs in all operative settings and specialties who seek to better their careers, their professions and the quality of patient care. AASPA was formed for surgical PAs, by surgical PAs.
AASPA was formed in 1972 as the American Association of Surgeon Assistants. They are proud to be the oldest specialty Physician Assistant organization, and They have a long history of supporting the needs of PAs, our physician/surgeon partners, and their patients.
Due to their vastly expanding role in the pre- and post-operative arena, supported by their broad based educational foundation as PAs, their name was changed to the American Association of Surgical Physician Assistants (1996).
