About:
Antibiotic resistance is one of the major public health threats of the 21st century. Since 1981, the Alliance for the Prudent Use of Antibiotics has been the premier organization dedicated to promoting the appropriate antibiotic use and curbing antibiotic resistance. APUA conducts large-scale national and international research and educational projects to control and monitor antibiotic resistance. We facilitate the exchange of up-to-date information by forging national and international partnerships among scientists, healthcare providers, consumers, and policy makers.

Who We Are:
APUA headquarters is located in Boston, MA on the campus of Tufts University Medical School. APUA's specialized staff provides field consultations and lend specialized expertise to guide policymakers, provider organizations, and other stakeholders seeking to improve antimicrobial supply, use, and management decisions. Our leadership includes recognized medical and scientific experts, including Nobel laureates and members of national academies of medicine and science. The APUA local chapters serve as reliable resources for collection and dissemination of information and advocacy for appropriate antimicrobial access and management in these reforms. APUA also contracts and consults on national and global projects with partners.
