The Los Angeles Radiological Society (LARS) founded in 1920, is dedicated to the promotion of high standards of practice in medicine overall with a focus primarily on Radiology and Radiation Oncology. Members of the Society adhere to the medical and ethical standards of practice adopted by the American College of Radiology.

Mission:
The purpose of the Society shall be the same as the purposes of the American College of Radiology and the California Radiology Society, which are as follows: The advancement of the Science of Diagnostic Radiology, Interventional Radiology, Radiation Oncology and Allied Health Sciences, hereinafter referred to as "Radiology;" the improvement of radiologic service to our patients, studying the socioeconomic aspects of the practice of Radiology; the encouragement of improved and continuing educational opportunities for our members and members of the medical community; and the establishment and maintenance of high medical and ethical standards in the practice of Radiology and allied professional fields.

Membership in LARS is the entrance to organized Radiology, including the California Radiological Society (CRS), the American College of Radiology (ACR), and the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO). Organized Radiology exists to promote standards of excellence in practice and science, and to assure that Radiology is fully represented in political and socioeconomic deliberations.
