Program Overview:
This session will explore issues related to wounds and wound healing in persons who inject drugs (PWID). The presentation will include: an overview of heroin and cocaine, demographics, and treatment; two causative factors for development of wounds - abscesses and venous disease; treatment; and health/related factors that may affect healing (pain, nutrition, hepatitis C, HIV/AIDS, mental health, etc.).

Learning Objectives:
• The learner will work confidently to provide care to persons who inject drugs by considering causative factors for wounds and health/related variables that may affect healing.
