Vision Rehab Course is organized by PT Seminars.

Course Description:
In evaluating a child with visual perceptual and visual motor deficits a therapist must screen the child for visual efficiency skills. This course provides an overview of how ocular motility skills like saccades, pursuits, and convergence affect visual function. Because of the neural control of eye movement and neuroplasticity of the brain, the ocular motility skills can be strengthened as it will positively influence how the child reads, writes, and plays. This course will emphasize the collaboration between optometrist and therapist and present treatment ideas for remediation and or compensation.

This online certificate course for Physical Therapists/PTA’s, Occupational Therapists/COTA’s, and ATC’s , is a learning module taught by on-demand streaming video. At the end of the course, there will be a quiz. Upon successful completion of the quiz, a certificate confirming completion of The Vision Rehab Course will be issued.

Course Agenda:
• Functional anatomy and normal vision
• Refractive errors
• Accommodative disorders, binocular vision, and ocular motility skills
• Clinical symptoms
• Vision screening for saccades, pursuits, convergence, and binocular vision
• Remediation and compensation treatment ideas

Course Objectives:
• Identify anatomical eye components of the optometric model of vision.
• Identify the elements of a basic visual screen.
• Identfy the key features of binocularity and eye teaming for normal development and rehabilitation in children.
• Identify primary treatment goals and therapy intervention strategies for various developmental as well as acquired disorders in a pediatric population.
