Description :
The World Health Organization estimates that obstetric fistula affects 2 to 3.5 million women globally with an annual incidence of 50,000 – 100,000. Although most obstetric fistula occur in lower resources settings, vesicovaginal fistula from iatrogenic causes such as pelvic surgery can be present in any context. This webinar will cover essential surgical principles in vaginal repair of vesicovaginal fistula and review evidence on the efficacy of repair techniques. Although many of the examples may be from obstetric fistula cases, the surgical principles and techniques shown are also applicable to other types of vesicovaginal fistula.

Objectives :
• Explain the surgical principles of vesicovaginal fistula repair.
• Describe the evidence guiding operative and perioperative management of vesicovaginal fistula.
• Discuss the techniques involved in vaginal repair of simple and complex vesicovaginal fistula.
