Description:
UTI at the Point of Care: Diagnostic and Treatment Decisions That Matter is a blended-learning curriculum designed for primary care clinicians, urologists, gynecologists, and other members of the health care team who treat patients with uncomplicated urinary tract infections (uUTIs). Although uUTIs are among the most common infections prompting antibiotic use, nearly half of prescriptions remain inappropriate or non–guideline-concordant. Through interactive, case-based discussion with expert faculty and peers, participants will practice distinguishing uUTI from asymptomatic bacteriuria, complicated UTI, and pyelonephritis. Participants will review guideline-concordant regimens, including novel agents, informed by local resistance patterns and antimicrobial stewardship principles. Participants will also apply risk-based stratification to guide urine culture use and therapy selection. Finally, participants will develop patient-centered strategies that reduce the burden of uUTIs on patients and the health care system.
