This course will serve as a review and update on Although more than 33 million adults in this country have incontinence or overactive bladder, two-thirds of adults aged 30 to 70 have never discussed bladder health with their primary care provider. Because incontinence sufferers may be too embarrassed to seek professional help, this socially unacceptable condition is therefore underreported, underdiagnosed, undertreated, and too often viewed as a normal part of aging.
Objectives:
The goal of this continuing education program is to update nurses and physicians with knowledge to manage urinary incontinence in their patients. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
• List two classifications of UI and their causes
• Describe two behavioral treatment options used to treat UI
• Identify three treatment modalities for UI
