Upper Quadrant Medical Screening for the Physical Therapist is organized by HomeCEU.

Course Description:
This course will provide an efficient and thorough approach for conducting an upper quadrant medical screening examination.  The purpose, indications, and limitations of the upper quadrant screening exam will be presented. This course will provide clinometric properties, when applicable for specific tests, and potential red and yellow flags that may warrant urgent and non-urgent referral.  A case study will be presented which will reinforce learned concepts.

This course is intended to instruct the professional on efficient and thorough approach for conducting an upper quadrant medical screening examination

Course Objectives:
• List 3 indications for conducting an upper quadrant screening examination
• Recall 2 situations where it is not appropriate to perform an upper quadrant screening examination.
• Recite 3 red flags during lymph node palpation that may warrant a subsequent referral
• List the purpose of the Spurling Maneuver
• Recognize the clinical relevance of sustained passive cervical rotation on symptom provocation that may justify an outside referral.
