The management of type 2 diabetes involves a multifaceted approach to control blood sugar levels and mitigate complications. Lifestyle modifications are crucial, including a balanced diet, regular exercise, and weight management. Medications like metformin, has been the mainstay of type 2 diabetes management. Over the past several years, guidelines have shifted away from a glucose centric focus to prioritizing cardio-renal management. Therapeutic inertia has created a situation where our type 2 diabetic patients are increasingly not reaching their A1C goals and under-prescribed appropriate goal directed medications.
