Retinal diseases such as neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD), diabetic retinopathy (DR), and diabetic macular edema (DME) are chronic, progressive conditions that can lead to irreversible vision loss if not effectively managed. Anti-VEGF therapies remain the standard of care, yet the need for frequent injections places a heavy burden on patients and contributes to adherence challenges. Newer therapeutic approaches, including aflibercept 8 mg, faricimab, and the port delivery system with ranibizumab, offer extended dosing intervals that may help reduce treatment burden while maintaining or improving outcomes. For DR and DME, corticosteroid implants and longer-acting anti-VEGF options provide additional pathways to improve disease control, particularly for patients resistant to standard therapy. Despite these advancements, barriers such as delayed treatment initiation, under-treatment, and healthcare disparities continue to limit patient outcomes. In this CE activity, experts faculty review and discuss abstracts from the EURETINA and Retina Society meetings that highlight the latest clinical trial and real-world data that inform treatment decisions for patients with nAMD, DR, and DME.
