OVERVIEW

Understanding molecular mechanisms responsible for upper motor neuron vulnerability is organized by American Neurological Association (ANA) and will be held during Oct 29, 2016 - Oct 29, 2019. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

Description :

Corticospinal motor neurons (CSMN) are an important component of motor neuron circuitry and have a unique function to initiate and modulate voluntary movement. CSMN degeneration is observed in many motor neuron diseases and movement disorders, and thus are clinically relevant neuron population that deserves attention. We are now overcoming many challenges to study the cellular and molecular mechanisms responsible for their vulnerability and progressive degeneration in diseases.

Learning Objectives :
After this session, participants will be better prepared to do the following in practice:

Be more receptive to potential upper motor neuron defects in patients
Be more receptive to potential upper motor neuron defects in disease models
Help build better inclusion criteria for future clinical trials of motor neuron diseases, in which voluntary movement is impaired.
