Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:
• describe the criteria used by the ADA to define a disabled person;
• list the three requirements of health care providers under Title III of the ADA;
• discuss the concept of "reasonable accommodation";
• summarize the requirements associated with providing an interpreter when treating hearing impaired patients; and
• discuss the concept of discrimination against obese patients and patients with HIV and provide examples of ADA violations when treating these patients.
