Therapeutic Advances in Hypercholesterolemia: Examining the Role of PCSK-9 Inhibitors in Addressing Unmet Needs is organized by North American Center for Continuing Medical Education (NACCME) and would be held during Dec 15, 2015 - Dec 15, 2016.
The target audience for this medical event are primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, physician assistants, registered dietitians, certified diabetes educators, pharmacists, and other related healthcare professionals who treat patients with cardiometabolic conditions. This CME conference has been approved with a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit.
Learning Objectives
After completing this activity, participants should be able to:
• Identify the differences among the current guidelines on approaches for aggressive lowering of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels
• Describe the unmet need for alternative lipid-lowering therapies beyond available strategies for reducing CV risk in patients with hypercholesterolemia
• Outline recent evidence that further supports the LDL hypothesis and that “lower is better”
• Identify patient groups, such as diabetics, in whom alternative therapies or additional LDL-C lowering agents may be warranted
• Review clinical trial data for PCSK9 inhibitors in various patient groups for the treatment of elevated cholesterol
