This session will focus on the appropriate utilization of opioid therapy in controlling pain and maintaining quality of life for patients. This presentation will explore the processes and tools used to validate prescriptions, monitor use of these medications, and effectively counsel patients.
Conference Objectives :
At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
• Examine the conditions, diseases, and comorbidities in which opioid therapy is essential to control pain and maintain quality of life
• Explore strategies to prevent opioid abuse by counseling patients on proper storage and disposal practice
• Identify processes to validate valid prescriptions for pain medication
• Express compliance and monitoring strategies to ensure appropriate use of opioid prescriptions
