OVERVIEW

The PBM Supreme Court Case: Saving Community Pharmacy (Pharmacist) is organized by Connect Educate Impact (CEI).

Release Date: May 20, 2020
Expiration Date: May 20, 2023

Description:
Pharmacy Benefit Managers have profoundly affected the practice of pharmacy and the relationship between pharmacists and their patients. Access to care at local pharmacies has been inhibited, at a time when it is most needed, due to the use of negative reimbursements. Later this year, the Supreme Court of the United States will hear oral arguments in the Rutledge v. PCMA case. This CE will discuss implications for community pharmacy practice.

Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this knowledge-based CPE course, pharmacists should be able to:
• Discuss community pharmacies' critical role for patients and the health care system
• Describe how Act 900, passed by the Arkansas Legislature in 2015, initiated the legal review process of Pharmacy Benefit Manager practices
• Discuss potential implications of the Arkansas case, Rutledge v. Pharmaceutical Care Management Association
