OVERVIEW

The Illusion of Opioids is organized by University of North Texas (UNT) Health Science Center Continuing Education and will be held during Nov 23, 2016 - Nov 23, 2018.

The target audience for this medical event is Pharmacists, Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Social Workers, Licenses Professional Counselors and Public Health Professionals. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 1.20 CNE Contact hours.

Conference Description :
Literature has shown that prescribers receive little education on the treatment of pain resulting in less effective pain treatment with worse outcomes. Attendees will learn the evidence-based analysis of the relative effectiveness of medications and their side effects with recommendations on how to improve treatment of acute and chronic pain.

Conference Objectives are :
• Identify the relative effectiveness of common oral pain medications;
• Identify common side effects of available pain medications;
• Explain why opioids are so addicting; and
• Recognize the public health effects and costs of opioid prescriptions for acute pain.
