OVERVIEW

The Era of Anticoagulation - Selecting the Best Approach to Treatment is organized by Pri-Med and will be held during Feb 06, 2016 - Feb 06, 2019. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 0.85 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

Overview :

This session will focus on incorporating the latest advances in anticoagulation for stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation and acute treatment and long-term prevention of venous thromboembolism. The expanding role of the non-vitamin K oral anticoagulants will be discussed in the context of pivotal, landmark randomized controlled trials. Dr. Beckman will also discuss the management of bleeding in patients on NOACs.

Learning Objectives :

• Recognize limitations of warfarin and the advantages of the non-vitamin K oral anticoagulants (NOACs)
• Incorporate NOACs into stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation (AF) practices to select the optimal regimen
• Integrate NOACs into strategies for acute treatment of venous thromboembolism (VTE) and long-term prevention
• Identify critical pathways for management of bleeding in patients taking NOACs
