Over 6 modules, the course provides information, resources, recommended reading and case studies to enhance your active learning experience.

Module 1 is called 'The Australian aged care system and how it works'. The aim of this module is to provide an overview of the aged care sector across the continuum of care.

Module 2 is called 'The Australian aged care system for Accredited Practising Dietitians (APDs)'. The aim of this module is to provide an in-depth description of the different aged care settings where APDs can provide nutrition services, and to discuss the challenges and solutions in a range of settings, including rural and remote settings.

Module 3 is called 'Nutritional requirements, identification and management of risks across the continuum of care'. The aim of this module is to provide an understanding of the high prevalence nutrition risks in aged care, both residential and community, and to provide current management strategies for each of the high-risk nutrition challenges.

Module 4 is called 'The residential aged care setting'. The aim of this module is to provide an overview of the residential aged care sector, the regulatory system, funding models and the organizational structure of services, to understand the role of the residential aged care dietitian within the wider multidisciplinary team, and to provide a basic understanding of the DA menu and Mealtime Assessment for Residential Aged Care.

Module 5 is called 'Community - at home care'. The aim of this module is to provide an overview of an APDs role when providing care to older people living independently in their own home.

Module 6 is called 'Real life challenges - a recorded webinar'. The aim of this module is to follow the progression of a client through the continuum of aged care, to understand the 'touch points' where dietitians should have a role in the aged care system, and to understand the limitations of the current aged care system and opportunities for advocacy at the grass roots level.
