Description:
This topic will highlight evidence for use of thrombolytics in patients with acute ischemic stroke and pulmonary embolism. This course will compare the pharmacology, efficacy, safety and formulary considerations of thrombolytic alteplase and tenecteplase.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize the differences in pharmacology between alteplase and tenecteplase.
  • Compare the literature surrounding thrombolytic use in stroke to choose an appropriate thrombolytic agent.
  • Understand the literature surrounding thrombolytic use in pulmonary embolism to choose an appropriate thrombolytic agent.
  • Identify thrombolytic medication characteristics to modify a medication formulary.
