OVERVIEW

Supporting The Stages of Grief Through Naturopathic Medicine is organized by Collaborative Education (CE).

Description:
Grief has two distinct stages; acute and integrated, and both have physical challenges that are not often addressed with traditional counseling. In this lecture, you will learn a three-step process involving acknowledgment of the physical and emotional self, and how to support a person in active and ongoing grief that allows for deep healing, and stabilization of a stressed immune system. Bring your curiosity and creativity, as there will be a creative component you will explore in order to understand what your patient may be experiencing in the work you prescribe.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will learn the foundational principles of body-mind paradigms.
  • Participants will note medical articles that show how body-mind principles are supported by research, and resources they can share with patients to deepen confidence and compliance.
  • Participants will know that body-mind medicine is best used in the context of conservative caution, realizing that medical support may be necessary at times and when to refer for that possibility.
  • Through case studies, participants will learn how to safely begin using body-mind approaches in a naturopathic setting.
