Description:
This program will explain how physicians bill for services provided to Illinois injured workers and will help physician offices navigate the unique challenges of getting paid through the Illinois workers' compensation system.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this learning activity, participants will be able to:
• Describe how the Illinois Workers’ compensation system works and pays healthcare providers for services treating injured workers;
• Explain how the Illinois Workers' Compensation Commission Medical Fee Schedule works and how physicians bill for services;
• Identify common billing & payment issues faced by healthcare providers when treating injured workers;
• Describe key benefits of utilizing electronic billing for workers’ compensation claims and the importance of completing all necessary claim element requirements.
