OVERVIEW

Strategies for Success: Managing CF as an Adult is organized by ABcomm, Inc. and will be held from Mar 30, 2018 - Mar 30, 2020.

The target audience for this medical event is multidisciplinary CF Treatment Team members; physicians (pediatric and adult pulmonologists and pediatricians), nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, respiratory therapists, social workers, dieticians, counselor and center coordinators. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

Course Description :
This activity focuses on psychological milestones and considerations for adults with CF including self-management of medical care, incorporation of complex treatment regimens with other life responsibilities, goal setting and attainment, consideration of longer-term life choices (sexuality, reproduction, family life), mental health checkpoints, and when and how to screen for co-morbid psychiatric issues such as depression and anxiety.

Course Objectives are :
• Identify challenges the CF treatment burden presents in the setting of adult life responsibilities.
• Discuss resources and opportunities to help successfully mitigate CF management challenges in adulthood. Review common comorbidities that can develop in adults with CF.
• Highlight potential gaps in the care of adults with CF that can impact comorbidities and other aspects of health.
• Discuss the importance of managing the psychological well-being of adults with CF and its impact on both mental and physical health.
• Examine the importance of mental health screening and highlight potential recommendations for management of mental health concerns.
